A bachelor's life

Bachelor

Whilst some men are destined to marry and settle down to a simple and straightforward family life, there are plenty of men out there who are more than happy to lead a bachelor's life. These men are quite content to go to the cinema alone the benefit of this is that they can choose to watch whatever movie they like and thus avoiding the problem of having to sit through a “chick-flick”.
Another benefit of living the single bachelor life is that if you fancy an evening out with your friends, then there is nothing to stop you, although you never know, on one of these jaunts to a bar or nightclub you may find yourself meeting the woman of your dreams!

There is a downside to the bachelor life of course, as on the flip-side you may find your circle of friends dwindles as the rest of your chums end up in relationships and even get married. Before long you may find your social life becoming less and less enjoyable.

Being on your own is not a bad thing by and large, but if you are looking to change and attract a partner, then you should take good care of yourself, hit the gym, go for a run, or go swimming. Also do not just concentrate on your body, give your mind a workout as well, join an adult education class or take up a diverse and interesting hobby.

One other scenario that is going to be a problem when it comes to attracting a partner is if you are still living at home. An overbearing and over protective mother can be a distinct disadvantage when the time comes to bring an end to your single life. The solution to this is simple, move into your own place as soon as you can, get yourself out and about and before long you will may be able to say goodbye to the single life.

Flood Prevention Methods

Floods can be devastating to your home and also very dangerous to you and your family. People and animals can be seriously injured and repairs to water damaged property can get very expensive. A lot of the time, home insurance does not actually cover flood damages, separate flooding insurance is required. This can be very expensive, especially in areas of a high flood risk. That's why it is a good idea to put some preventative measures in place.

There are a number of flood protection options available to you which can at least limit, if not prevent water damage in the case of flooding. One of the options available are flood barriers which will slow or even stop water from flowing into your property and potentially damaging your furnishings, floor coverings and the actual structural integrity of the building. The two main types of flood barriers which are commonly used are concrete walls or earthen berm. Berm is the most common of the two, but is only suitable for an area 6 feet in width and a minimum of a foot tall, otherwise a concrete wall would need to be used.

It is also possible to waterproof your home, making certain that it is totally watertight. In areas where flood risks are higher, new buildings tend to be constructed with waterproof materials and the windows and doors are specially reinforced to keep uninvited waters out. Wherever there are gaps where water could creep in, for example under doors, sand bags can be used as a sort of temporary or mobile flood barrier. The sand can soak up the water and push it away from the property.

Basement flooding is particularly common in residential homes, largely caused by cracks in basement walls and foundations. These cracks can be much more difficult to spot than in other locations around the home, especially if you do not use your basement very often. Cracks can be caused by previous water damage, or freezing weather conditions. Once detected these cracks can be filled with water resistant material.

Prevention is key to reducing the level of water damage that occurs during a flood and is well worth investing time in.

Male Chastity Piercings

Chastity Belt & Iron Boot, The Clink Prison Mu...

There is not much which really shocks me! I am a pretty open minded kind of guy and I fully believe in live and let live. I don't care what you do or who you do it with. I think I have been around a little and know my onions, but I read an article the other day that really made me think WTF? The article dealt with male chastity piercings. The headline caught my attention as I had never heard of it before, assuming it was a new male only body modification – boy was I wrong!

I've heard of chastity and we've all seen the imfamous chastity belt devices of times long since past, but I had never associated chastity with men. I know that's probably very chauvanistic thing to say, but I really hadn't. However, it seems that there is a whole community out there today where women keep men in chastity using barbaric looking devices that lock around the man's most prized body part. According to the article, the most expensive chastity devices require the man to have his penis pierced to hold the device in place! Now I've heard of genital piercing, I have a buddy with it done and as I said above that's cool with me. However, this takes thing to a whole other level. This type of chastity is refered to as 'advanced male chastity' and is advised only for those who want serious, secure chastity for their men. I guess the article was intended for those who are already aware of this practice because it didn't seem to reveal why you'd want to have your tackle locked up (these devices actually stop you getting aroused because if you were to get an erection it would hurt like hell!).

The article advocated using a chastity device in combination with a Prince Albert piercing, because other devices allowed for escape with enough lubrication and a little pain endurance. However, add a piercing into the mix and the device is as secure as it is going to get as it only allows for escape my tearing out the piercing (OUCH)! However, the main reason given was that the addition of the piercing made it more symbolic and showed the woman really had full ownership of the man. It's all about orgasm denial.

I'm all for a bit of kink if it floats your boat, but for me having a body modification to allow the wife to bolt a cage around your nether regions is a step too far!!

Finding A Reliable Plumber

No one really likes having to call in a plumber, as a man you really want to be able to be able to take care of business! However, there comes a time in every man's life when they just need to admit defeat and call in an expert. Needing an emergency plumber is one of those times. It is tough to choose the right plumber, but it is important because they are expensive and we are always hearing horror stories from friends about cowboy plumbers who have ripped them off!

So what do you need to know when looking for a plumber? Here are some important things you should know.

First up, only deal with licensed plumbers. The plumbing code makes it illegal for unlicensed plumbers to carry out plumbing work in some states. You will come across many handymen who will claim to know how to fix plumbing problems for cash in hand, but you should steer clear! I always make sure my plumbers have the following documents:

  1. State Plumbing License
  2. A minimum $15000 bond
  3. A business license
  4. a city permit
  5. insurance

It is tempting to opt for a cheaper service with only some of these, but in the long run it is worth paying extra for a fully qualified and licensed provider.

Second of all, spend some time looking for satisfied customers. Look up reviews online or ask around for recommendations. I now in an emergency situation time is a luxury you do not have, so why not ask now and have that number on standby? It is better to be prepared and never need it than to be caught short in your time of need.

I always look out for a fixed price guarantee so that I get no nasty surprises. You may also want a free consultation visit. Start shopping around and add a good plumbing service to your contacts list today.

Weird & Wonderful Body Modifications

Body Modification
Body Modification (Photo credit: satragon)

I am seeing more and more people sporting a wide array of different body modifications. It used to be that it was uncommon to see a nose ring or an eyebrow piercing, but those are now as commonplace as earrings these days because there are more and more people willing to go to extremes when it comes to body modification.

How about an eyeball tattoo? Sounds bizarre, right? However, this process has been around for over 2000 years. The earliest known description of eyeball tattooing, or to give it its formal name 'corneal tattooing' is by Roman physician Galen of Pergamum. In those days it was performed to mask the leukomatous opacities in the eye, but today the practice is mainly cosmetic although it has been used on occasion to improve the sight of individuals suffering from a number of eye problems including coloboma, iridodialysis, albinism and diffusion of the nebulae of the cornea among others.

There is also scarification, a body modification which is rooted in an initiation rite of the people of Korogo Village in Papua New Guinea where young males are repeatedly cut to create a pattern old scars on the body. Here in the west we perform a similar procedure in the name of body modification by having designs etched into the skin by scratching or cutting.

Another body modification that is gaining popularity is tongue bifurcation. Piercing of the tongue is commonplace now, but the more adventurous are taking it a step further by having their tongue split in two like the forked tongue of a snake! The legality of this differs from state to state and in Illinois, New York, Delaware and Texas there are various laws which either an the procedure or require it to be performed by a doctor.

Decorate Like An Interior Designer With These Tips

Do you have many ideas for redoing your own home, but wonder what you should start with first? Does interior design scare you? Well, there is no more need to feel anxious. With the advice contained here, your interior design plans will be a breeze. Wallpaper only a portion of your wall to save money. It can be very expensive to redecorate your walls. Use wallpaper on only a fraction of your wall to save money. Choose a strong border for the wallpaper, then choose a complimentary hue to paint the rest of the wall that remains. Most people don't think to do this, so you will find others envying your walls that you did at half the cost! Many designers use colors in certain ways to trick the eye into thinking the room looks different than it really is. If you paint your ceiling in a light color or white, you will create the illusion of more space. You should make your ceiling a minimum of two color shades lighter than the color of the walls in any room. If you don't do this, in time your room will feel smaller than it truly is. With brighter ceilings, you will feel as if the room is expanded and you can relax easier within. You could also instill a cozy and warm feeling by painting your room with warmer accented colors. You could even use the color of your interior door to have this effect. If you allow your child to choose the colors in their room, they may pick colors that their parents feel are too bright and bold. For a compromise, allow them to pick their color, then choose a light shade of that color. That way, the furniture can be matched to the walls. Rather than a bright color, such as red, being painted on the walls, save the red for the furniture and paint the walls a lighter color.

A vital tip about interior design is to be consistent throughout your house, as far as style goes. If you can settle on one particular theme to incorporate throughout your home, you'll create a cohesive, thoughtful environment for all who live there. For example, choosing to use the same interior door on every room, especially if most rooms lead off of one hallway or corridor will help to tie the various rooms together. Make any living area appear brighter by positioning a large mirror opposite the largest window in the room. With mirrors in your home, you can get more lighting into your home. That can make the room seem brighter and lighter. Good art pieces can go along way in interior design. You may not value art at all, but just one painting can set the tone for the whole room. A good piece of wall art can be a good source of inspiration for decorating the rest of the room. Artwork should be hung at eye level for the best effect. One good way to make sure you avoid that is to keep the art at least 8 to 10 inches higher than the back of your sofa. Avoid putting every piece of your child's artwork on the walls or fridge. This can create a very messy and disorganized look. You can have your child pick out what pictures they want you to put in a frame. Rotate the art periodically. This is a great way to put your child's art on display and it will really increase their self-esteem.

Do not go with current trends if you are about to design the interior of your home. Purchase furnishing that are timeless. You can match up trendy pieces with classic furniture.

Do's and Don'ts of Bachelor Parties

When it comes to partying, the end goal is usually fun and relaxation, but a bachelor party is a little bit different. The aim of the bachelor party (known as a stag night in the UK) is to give the groom one last night where he can do whatever he likes, it's the last night as a single man. It's giving him the opportunity to say goodbye to bachelor life and prepare for marriage. I think a bachelor party is the last chance to enjoy life with few responsibilities. Of course, these days with so many couples cohabiting or raising children prior to marriage the bachelor party may have lost some of it's meaning. However, the tradition remains!

Bachelor parties get a bad reputation. We have all heard horror stories of grooms having sex with a prostitute or ending up 3000 miles from home and not making the wedding, but I think if you are with your real friends they won't let that happen. Besides, most guys have the bachelor party a week or more before the wedding. As a serial Best Man, I've planned my share of bachelor parties. Here are my do's and don'ts for surviving a bachelor party!

  • DO think carefully about your guest list, when planning a buddies bachelor party ask yourself if he really wants his future father in law or his grandfather to witness potentially questionable activities!
  • DON'T collect the money on the night. It's customary for the bachelor NOT to pay for anything including drinks, lap dances or food. However, getting money out of everyone will be a struggle so decide on a budget before hand and collect the money prior to the party so that the organizer can control the pot.
  • DO make sure the bride isn't having her party at the same bar!
  • DON'T get tattoos! Groups of guys getting matching 'buddy'' tattoos is just lame! Yet so many bachelor parties end up that way! Just don't! Bear in mind no good tattooist would tattoo drunk people!
  • DO keep an eye on the groom! It's all to easy to lose the groom bearing in mind he will be the drunkest of all! Oh, and take along a change of clothes for him!
  • DON'T hire a hooker. Just don't its not classy to encourage your buddy to cheat before he even says I do!
  • DO make sure the groom is comfortable. Not everyone wants to go to a strip club.
  • DON'T ever talk about it – there will be no pictures either. What happens at a bachelor party stays at a bachelor party.
